Sparkalloid is a proprietary polysaccharide-based fining agent that works by a different mechanism than clay or protein-based finers. Dissolved in boiling water and added hot, Sparkalloid forms a gel-like network that traps fine particles and drops them as a compact sediment. Winemaker's Tip: Add Sparkalloid hot — dissolve in boiling water for 10 minutes and add to wine while the solution is still warm. Cold Sparkalloid solution doesn't disperse effectively and won't clear the wine.
