New Year's Wine Resolutions
Welcome 2026!!! It is just amazing how quickly the years go by.
Annually, at the start of the year, many choose to reflect back on the past year and set resolutions for themselves. How does that apply to wine and winemaking?
Here are some suggestions for wine resolutions:
- Try a new wine you have never tried before - this is the best time to do so with the arrival of our first two Limited Release Passport Wines (Malbec Bonarda from Argentina and Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay from Spain/Chile - see below for in depth description of both wines). Many of you may not even be familiar with the Bonarda grape and many of us have never tried a wine that blends two grapes from two different countries. Year after year the Passport wines are impressive and delicious - MAKE THIS THE YEAR YOU TRY OUR PASSPORT WINES AND ORDER YOURS TODAY.
- Commit to organizing your wine cellar/storage area - consider consuming aged wines before fresher wines (unless you are saving a few for special occasions). Make sure to label your wines with dates of when they were made. Consider using different coloured shrink caps for each batch of wine - making it easier to identify different wines in your cellar
- Attempt pairing certain foods with specific wines - a bold red will not pair well with a haddock fillet. Learning how to best enjoy and pair your wine with a meal will make a world of a difference in the flavours of both your food and wine. Specifically, do not put grapes on your charcuterie board - ironically, they pair terribly with wine.
- Learn something new about wine - read our newsletter!! Do a Google search about a local winery or research a specific region or grape. It is quite interesting to learn the history behind winemaking. Then share what you have learned with us on your next visit.
- Purchase a wine accessory - this can be functional or just for fun, for example invest in an instant aerator or instant wine chiller or maybe a new set of wine glasses.
Next time you visit us, ask about our wine accessories - we would be happy to help .
